The unplanned expatriate blogger behind Soft Grid Harbor

Hi there, I'm Noah

I work as a project manager. Parent. Expat living in Toronto, Canada.

Several years ago I moved here with my family. What started as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.

How It Started

Moving to Canada wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.

The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complex than they should.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt stable.

Why I Built Soft Grid Harbor

Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.

This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Canada.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site IS:

  • This site offers practical experience from living in Canada
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated whenever something truly changes

This site ISN'T:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • A platform for sponsored reviews
  • A generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in Canada goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we learn.

If you have questions about family life in Toronto or anywhere in Canada, please feel free to get in touch.

Best regards,

Noah
